Mysterious Condition Related To COVID-19

In New York alone, 15 children have been diagnosed with a mysterious syndrome related to the coronavirus. Several European countries have also reported similar cases to those in New York.

In New York alone, 15 children have been diagnosed with a mysterious syndrome related to the coronavirus. Several European countries have also reported similar cases to those in New York.

According to local health officials, these kids expressed symptoms that are commonly seen when Kawasaki’s disease or toxic shock. Both of these conditions are extremely rare. The infection rate for toxic shock syndrome sits at about 1 for every 100,000 people yearly. The infection rate for Kawasaki’s Disease is approximately 25 for every 100,000 each year. Comparatively, 8 for every 100 people are diagnosed with the flu every year.

According to the New York City Health Department, the patients exhibited symptoms of a “multisystem inflammatory syndrome potentially associated with Covid-19.” France, Italy, Spain, and other European countries have all seen similar cases in children.
